My book study with questions and activities goes along with the book, Ranger in Time: Rescue on the Oregon Trail, written by Kate Messner. This is a great book for students in 2nd through 5th grades. It teaches students about pioneers as Ranger, a Golden Retriever, travels back in time. The questions and activities can be used with social studies and reading/language arts. I have included coloring pages and images to help students see some of the ways pioneers lived and traveled.I also listed several websites that may be useful for finding more activities, and for a more in-depth study if you plan to use the book with a greater emphasis on social studies. Since the puzzle that I have included may be more difficult for younger students, I have added a copy with some of the letters added to the puzzle to make it easier for those who might struggle. This packet includes: a KWL chart, comprehension questions, compare and contrast charts, vocabulary, predicting, antonyms, synonyms, contractions, possessive nouns, homophones, suffixes, compound words, inference, setting, character, context clues, landmarks, geography, and more.
