This resource can be used in a multitude of ways. In my kindergarten classroom, this resource helped to target reading comprehension standards after read aloud or small group guided reading lessons. I introduced this to my Year 2 (SK) students first. Students are provided with opportunities to respond to texts in different ways through writing, illustrations etc. This sheet allows students to think about their favourite part of the story in a fun and creative way. I would model the use of this handout first, have it out as a learning invitation at a writing area in the classroom and also send the sheet home in student borrow-a-book folders as supplemental work to be done with families. Teach your students to be critics (and critical thinkers)!
This freebie can be used to accommodate for different learners and grade levels. There are 3 versions:
• picture only (students can label their pictures)
• picture and words
• only words
