This activity is a walk around the room and solve problems activity. Each poster has three representations (graphs, tables, word problems) and the students have to find the rate of change that answers the given question. Each answer corresponds with a word or phrase that can be filled into the mad lib. The students love this activity because it is a different way to practice the skill and they end up with a funny story at the end. The mad lib can be edited to fit the group of students in front of you (i.e. use teachers at your school and your town). The rate of change problems challenge students to calculate rate from tables, graphs, and word problems and they are designed to help students understand which rate is higher/lower depending on the problem.
