1.Finding the Slope of a Line using Similar Triangles 8.4A ($1.99). This worksheet of 5 problems consist of showing how the slope m (rate of change) is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane by using the similar triangles as guides. In two of the problems the similar triangles are already graphed, and in the other three the students must graph the two similar triangles on each graph, so answers may vary. One example is provided as guided practice. Hits the Common Core Standards 8.EE.6 and TEKS 8.4A
2.Slope (Rate of Change), Y-intercept & Slope-intercept Form Equations 8.4C ($2.00). This worksheet consists of 4 word problems represented by a table or graph, where students must find the slope (rate of change) and the y-intercept (starting point) and write an equation in the form y= mx+b. Hits Common Core Standards 8.F.A.2, 8.F.B.4, 8SP.3 & HSS-ID.C.7 and TEKS 8.4A & 8.4C
Rate of Change (Slope) & Starting Point (Y-intercept) from Tables & Graphs 8.4C ($1.99). STATIONS & LIB! in this activity students will go to each station and determine the rate of change (slope) and starting point (y-intercept) from each table or graph. All problems are multiple choice and each answer comes with a word or phrase that completes the lib located in the student worksheet provided. Hits CC Standards 8.F.B.4 and TEKS 8.4C.
Slope (rate of change), Y-intercept & Slope-intercept Equations UNIT TEST 8.4A 8.AB ($3.00). This Slope & Y-Intercept Unit Test, bundles students expectations that address using tables and graphs to develop the understanding of the slope, y-intercept, and writing equations in slope-intercept form (y= mx+b). The test contains 8 problems with a total of 28 answers total (each answer counts for 5 points). In the first 2 problems the students must use similar triangles and the rise/run concept to determine the slope of the given lines, determine the y-intercept and write an equation in slope-intercept form. The other 6 problems consist on determining the slope and y-intercept from tables and graphs an writing an equation in slope-intercept form. Hits CC Standards 8.EE.B.5 and 8.EE.B.6, TEKS 8.4A and 8.4C.
