This Google Slide presentation is a paperless approach to teaching about ratios that is rooted in the lives of students. There are lots of pictures and a space on each slide for students to record their thinking. Students make connections to fractions and simplify their fractions to compare ratios. The students need to change a recipe, share device time with friends and determine what is the best cell phone plan using their understanding of ratios.
The final activity has students shop online and make the connections between product reviews and ratios. They make a comparison using their understanding of ratios to determine what is the best product to buy. Videos of this lesson are available on YouTube http://bit.ly/2FEJTFa
