In this smart notebook you will have a set of "bell ringer" problems to start the class on skills that will be helpful to remember for the ratio/rate lesson. Next is a kinesthetic group activity, where students complete tasks and record data then determine the unit rate for each task. Students could order the unit rates from least to greatest as an extra activity. Then there is a "Let's make a deal" game to summarize the lesson. I like to call on students one at a time so there is not pressure to compete against another student. If students are competitive and enjoy that, then it would be fun to see who picks the better deal faster!
