This activity practices solving rational equations reducible to linear by cross multiplication method. I have described the types of equations included in the preview file.
Task 1. Partners A and B are given their own set of equations such that each couple of their problems ( A1, B1), (A2, B2) and the rest have solutions of opposite signs. Students must reduce the rational equations to linear using the cross multiplication method and solve it for the variable. They compare answers with each other to check if their work is correct.
Task 2. Partners are given another set of rational equations. This time students must find which couple of equations have solutions of opposite signs.
Partners response sheet and student recording sheets are provided.
All answer keys are included as well.
