This self checking worksheet takes the student through 5 problems. The students are to take a rational fraction such as (7x^2+31x+46)/(x^3+7x^2+17x+35) and decompose it into two separate fractions: 3/(x+5) + (4x+5)/(x^2+2x+7). The denominator is factored for the student. The process involves lots and lots of substitution. This is a different worksheet than Decomposition 2 because the second term is linear, not constant. When finished, the students will discover an Irish Proverb.
