My students really struggle with rational numbers so I came up with a lesson to help them understand rational numbers visually and using hands-on. My students really enjoyed this activity because it helps my visual and hands-on learners. Students use a number line to see the sets and subsets of rational numbers and use colors to separate the sets and subsets. Then as a quick game/assessment, students play quiz quiz trade to decide which sets or subsets each number belongs to.
This lesson plan includes a warm up, reflection, and necessary vocabulary. I've included in the lesson guided practice which leads to independent practice. There is also a homework page and answer page.
Please leave feedback and let me know how your students enjoyed the lesson.
