Do you want an engaging and effective activity to help your students learn how to classify numbers into the number sets real, natural, whole, integers, rational, and irrational? My Activity: Rational and Irrational Numbers: Classifying Numbers into Number Sets is just what you need!

This activity consists of 6 "number systems" activities that will keep your students engaged as they learn how to simplify, compare, and classify numbers. The 6 "number systems" activities are to be used in cooperative groups, individually, and as whole class activities. The activities progress from exploring numbers to comparing and classifying numbers and justifying the classifications of the number system. Some of the number systems activities can be used as formative and summative assessments.
