This product asks students to demonstrate their knowledge about rational and irrational numbers. The first activity asks students to classify and place ten numbers on the real numbers graphic organizer. It also asks students to check all the number sets that would apply for seven different numbers. The second activity asks students to write a paragraph using the following nine vocabulary words: real numbers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, natural/counting numbers, whole numbers, integers, radical, repeating decimals and terminating decimals. Six different numbers (rational and irrational) are provided on a number line for students to reference when writing their paragraph.
I have used both of these in class as a quick assessment. Students were encouraged to work together to determine answers and talk about vocabulary words.
