An activity to understand the definition of rational and irrational as well as some common numbers and examples for both.
It is a 2 page word document with the 2 main titles: Rational and Irrational.
I get students to start a fresh double page in their book, cut all of them out and put the rational on to the left side and irrational on the right. Once I check it over, glue time!
They actually don't take long to cut out! Don't allow students to carefully cut around each cloud, they should be careful, but when you stick it onto white even the messiest cutter looks fine in the books.
This could be done in pairs and is a good introduction to indices and surds.
