Your students will love creating their own pictures and then writing ratios about them! This is one of my students' favorite activities of the year, and most begin the activity before I even finish giving directions. Use as an extra credit assignment, homework, a fun assessment, or as a nice activity when the class (and you) are ready for some downtime and you want everyone to be engaged while still working on ratios.
***Although my directions page specifies the use of fall, winter, and holiday pictures, you can easily modify this activity and make it cross-curricular by having students draw symbols from the class novel (or an individual book they are reading), pictures representing science concepts, or symbols of a country you are studying in social studies. The possibilities are endless!
