This template is a companion to the vocab. words that are defined. I used this with my middle school English learners to have both connotative and denotative meanings of words to assist them as they read the story. Sometimes students would make nonlinguistic references, some words were translated into their L1, and some words were defined from a dictionary. As long as the students had a solid understanding of what the words meant so they could understand the story, I was fine. I hope you find this useful too.
