This is a printable of an out stretched hand. It is designed to be used at the beginning of the school year as you help your students set their hopes and goals for the coming school year (as recommend by Responsive Classroom). Generate a list of goals with your students. Next have each student write their goal on a half inch sized sentence strip that is eight inches long. Then, have students trace over their writing in a black marker (to make it stand out). They can then color and cut-out this printable and mount their sentence strip on it. Mount all the hands on a piece of black or dark blue bulletin board paper. Finally, on “Back to School Night,” have parents write their own hopes and goals for their children on stars. Attach these stars to the background above the hands to complete the display!
