Cut these cards in sets of four for each of the vocabulary words with this story.
I use these cards in my english language learner classroom in a variety of ways:
1. Students match the cards together in groups of four: the word, the picture, the part of speech and the definition
2. Students play a matching game with a partner
3. Students match the vocabulary words and pictures then tell a partner / write a sentence about why these two go together
This resource can be used at differentiated levels with different activities so that all students can use them as a valuable resource. Students are very engaged when using these and are able to work with them easily at all ELL levels.
I also keep the cards together in a square to use on my focus wall for the story. It gives students a good reference with a picture that is similar to the one they see in their Reach book.
