This is Set 3 of my Read 180 Brag Tags.
I created these to help motivate my fourth and fifth grade students and to celebrate their reading accomplishments. If you are a Read 180 Teacher, these brag tags will give your kids a visual goal to work towards, and it gives you a way to recognize their hard work. These particular brag tags are given as your students move up in their words counts in their reading. This set takes off where my second set of Read 180 Brag Tags left off, which are also in my store. This set starts with a 505,000 Words Mastery Tag, then a tag is given for every 5,000 Word Count Mastery after that. Each tag has the word count and a different graphic on it that is unique to that tag. Great way to promote reading with decoding and fluency, while their reading comprehension improves. These tags have been a HUGE hit in my classroom!

There is a bit of preparation to do ahead of time to get your tags ready, but after that, there isn’t much to it. You just print the tags, laminate, cut them out, and hole punch them. As the kids earn their different brag tags, they put them on their own brag tag necklace that I purchased quite inexpensively from Amazon.com. As of July, 2018, you can purchase 50 chains for about $9.00, which makes the necklaces about 18 cents each. I have put in the link below for these chains for you.

I purchased and use the 24 inch, nickel plated chains. If you don’t want to order chains, another option is for the kids to glue their tags down into their reading notebook, or to staple them to a ribbon that is hanging in your classroom. If you do either of these things, you do not have to laminate them. All three options give the kids a visual of their accomplishments.
I use the necklaces, but I don’t let them wear them every day. I let them wear them on Fridays (we call it Brag Tag Friday). Their brag tag necklaces hang on a bulletin board from one of the longer versions of tacks (not a flat push tack).
I store all of my brag tags in a 64 drawer plastic tool box that I also purchased from Amazon.com. The link for this plastic tool box is below.

Included in this set are tags that go up to 750,000 Words Mastery (word count). Also included are 8”x 11” charts to hang in the classroom that show the different tags with the name of each tag and the word counts that need to be achieved to earn that particular tag.
