This resource includes a vocabulary puzzle page to color in or design for each workshop in the Read 180 rbook. Students must match the word to its definition.
I designed this activity to alleviate some of the struggles that come with teaching the read 180 curricula. Sometimes students complete their independent reading, but I cannot have them move on because their reading logs or comprehension accountability handouts require feedback. There are other times when the software just isn’t working. Then, there are other times when I have to leave my classroom for IEP, SST, or 504 meetings. These meetings only take 20-30 minutes, but I can’t expect my colleagues to understand the read 180 curriculums in the couple of minutes I have to explain before heading to my meeting.
Your students will love this!
Even my most reluctant learner has asked permission about completing his her/her vocabulary puzzle after finishing their reading or when we experience software issues.
These puzzles can be used as a pre- and post mini quiz, bonus points assignment, sub day work, or a down time activity after a major district or state test. Some students may be more comfortable with ink designs as oppose to coloring. I tell these students that they can use designs instead of coloring as long as the word and its definition match.
