This resource is a supplement to Ashley Spire's book "The Thing Lou Couldn't Do."
"The Thing Lou Couldn't Do" is a great read aloud book to teach character education virtues such as: growth mindset, courage, bravery, friendship, and compassion. I plan on using this book in the beginning of the school year, but this book can be used throughout the year. You will need a copy of her book to read aloud to your class in order to use this resource.
This resource includes:
-Text-Dependent Questions to use during read aloud, turn and talk style, or in a small group (no lines for student answers)
-Two pages of Text-Dependent Questions with lines for student answers
-Graphic Organizer focusing on Lou’s dilemma of climbing the tree
-Two pages focused on theme
-One page is blank except for the center (possible use of a mind map for students
to brainstorm all the messages of the book)
-Two theme related questions
-Text-to-Self connection pages: “How Are You Like Lou?”
-Character Education Connection: Graphic Organizer and questions about bravery
With your purchase of this produce you will receive a suggested outline and sequence of how to use these resources in your classroom.
