Engage your students in reading for a purpose by having them spin, think, and answer questions targeted at the setting, character, and plot of text/story.
Included are two different formats for student written responses.
Read Around Instruction Ideas:
Students can use a Read Around spinner to answer questions about a book or story they are currently reading. They can write their answers in a journal or on the attached response page.
Partners can take turns using a Read Around spinner to answer questions about a book or story they are currently reading. Students can share answers aloud.
Small Group Instruction:
Teachers can use the Read Around spinners as they see fit in small group instruction. Answers can be answered and discussed as a group.
How to Make a Spinner:
Place a paper clip in the center of the spinner. Then, place the pencil point in the center of the spinner. The paper clip will spin around the pencil tip.
Your students will love it! Enjoy!
