Help your students cover CCSS with these FUN activities.
{4 in all that use CVVC rhyming words.} These words all have a VV combinations- which is NOT a K common core standard.

Activity A- Read the CVVC word.Find it on the mat. Cover the picture with the word. The words are: peach, nail, moon, bear, jeep, and tree. {I Can sheet, word circles, and additional worksheet.}

Activity B- Read the CVVC word. Find the word on the mat. Cover the rhyming word on the mat: bee/tree, spoon/moon, sleep/jeep, teach/peach, pear/bear, and nail/pail.
{I Can sheet, word circles, and additional worksheet.}

Activity C- Look at the CVVC picture. Find the CVVC words that rhymes with the word. Cover the rhyming word to cover: bee/tree, spoon/moon, sleep/jeep, teach/peach, pear/bear, and nail/pail.
{I Can sheet, word circles, and additional worksheet.}

Activity D- Write the CVVC word using the numbered mat. Find the picture that matches it. Cover that word on the mat.
{I Can sheet, word circles, and additional worksheet.}

1. Print a “Read, Find, Cover” board, circles (2 students per page), and one “I Can” page per station for student directions.
2. Place pieces at a station. Student should follow the directions on the “I Can” sheet to read, find, and cover the CVVC words.
3. Follow up with the worksheet activity if desired.
*You should use the same ‘Read, Find, Cover” board for all these activities except the last activity.
There are 4 activities in this pack. The “I Can” sheets, circles, and worksheets are labeled with A, B, C, or D to determine the activity.

RF.K.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
RF.K.2a Recognize and produce rhyming words.
RF.K.2b Count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words.
RF.K.2c Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. * This activity works on isolating and producing the initial, medial vowels, and final sounds in words with LONG vowel sounds. Although it isn't a specific CCSS in K, my school still teaches this in K.
