I hope your students enjoy these two activities and the colorful game board with a superhero theme.
This product actually has two game levels. Level 1 is to segment sentences into individual words while Level 2 is to read simple sentences with phonetically regular words.
Phonological Awareness is an important skill in developing effective readers. Research indicates that students with weak phonological awareness skills become weak readers.
The level one game of segmenting sentences is an early level of segmenting. In this game, students are expected to count the number of words in a sentence. To do this they need to follow the left to right progression of reading and differentiate between letters and words.
The second activity in this game comes a little later. Once students know letter names and sounds and have the basis of sounding words out, they are ready for this game. The sentences use phonetically regular words and very few sight words. This is ideal for those early readers.
