This is a great game for kindergarten and year 1 students who are working with sight words and reading them fluently. (Johnson's Sight word list)
When can I use it:
It can be used as a cycle during your reading group lessons
or other reading lessons
How to play:
In pairs students take turns to roll the die. They look at the number and read the word from the corresponding column. If they don’t know the word they can ask their partner. Once they have read the word they colour it with a highlighter. If they have coloured all the words in the column but still roll the same number they miss a turn. First person to finish reading their page wins. You may also ask students to read it with different expressions!
