Read, Roll And Show You Know
These stories about animals are a great way to engage students and build their fluency and comprehension skills. Included in the unit are 26 stories, one for each letter of the alphabet. Students work with a partner, reading the story 3 times. A star is colored in after each read. After the third read, children take turns rolling a dot cube. With each roll, a question from the numbered column rolled is read and answered by the child. After answering the question, that space is colored. The students repeat this process until all the questions have been answered. One final question at the bottom of the page gives students an opportunity to connect themselves to the information they have read.
A second page is included for each animal. Children show their understanding of the selection by drawing and coloring the habitat of the animal and then writing fact and opinion statements about it.
Also included are informational video links to accompany each animal.
