This program is set to develop phonological awareness, letter-sound knowledge and vocabulary. A student learns that a simple sentence consists of a noun, a verb, proposition and adjective. To be able to read and to understand the meaning of the sentence, the student has to decode the words in the sentence and with the visual cues from the pictures find the correct word to finish the sentence.
The worksheets are organised in sections to focus on different aspects of reading and writing. Each worksheet has a text and a helping picture. The task is to write or circle a noun or a verb as an answer to a simple question.
One section is deals with questions such as: "Where is (are) the ... ?"
Other sections deal with questions: "What do you like?"; "What is this?"; "What do you need?"; "What are they doing?"; "What would you like?" ...
Some regular sight words are used repeatedly to make reading more fluent: like, the, on, in, here, has, can, this, there, need, would...
The use of 12 questions (problems) on each page makes the workbook compatible with the miniLUK self checking system.
