Description

Online Learning Reading Informational Text Unit on Reindeer- Compare and Contrast Two Texts on Reindeer: Students will enjoy these reindeer reading passages and reindeer reading comprehension pages. Students will compare two nonfiction passages on reindeer and will integrate ideas to write about the topic of reindeer. Reindeer are interesting animals with special adaptations. Great holiday reading and writing activity. Students will learn that reindeer or caribou are animals that live on the tundra and have unique adaptations for surviving there. Using their reading informational text skills, students will compare the two text passages about reindeer or caribou.

This resource includes two reading passages, reading responses, follow-up slides, brainstorming pages, a writing page, true false sorting cards, and more.  Students will look at the main ideas and supporting details within each passage. They will make comparisons and while doing this learn about the adaptations that reindeer have and how they are different from other members of the deer family.

This is a science literacy unit that is great for the holidays or December.  Students will read and write informational text in this reindeer unit.  This resource is online in Google Slides. If you are looking for a printable unit, please see Compare and Contrast Two Texts on Reindeer

Did you know that Santa’s reindeer were most likely female? This is because both male and female reindeer have antlers and the male reindeer shed their antlers in early December.

Did you know that caribou is just another name for reindeer and both of the words are interchangeable and refer to the same animal?
