Read and Match Sight Words Editable Game Board: Fall Fun
This Read and Match Sight Words Editable Game Board set contains 1 printable game board and 6 different player cards that focus on reading sight words. The word list is editable, so you can customize the game board with your own sight words, cvc words, or any other type of word list your class is studying. (Tip: I have even used basic math facts.)
To play the game, students take turns rolling a number cube and moving around the board. They read each word they land on. After the word is read correctly, students look to see if they have the matching picture on their player cards and cover it up. The first person to completely cover his or her player card wins the game.
This is a low-prep activity. Simply print and cut apart the player cards. The game board and player cards come in both color and black lines. Use heavy paper and laminate for durability. You will need to provide students with a number cube and a set of small game pieces (counting chips, cubes, coins, buttons, bears, etc.) to move around the board and to cover up the pictures. You could also use dry erase markers on the player cards for a write and wipe activity.
This Read and Match Sight Words Editable Game Board is a fun and engaging way to practice key language skills for young learners.
