Any Subject, Any Source, Anywhere!!!!!! As Common Core hits us it is even more important for students to be able to anaylze reading sources: articles, textbooks, novels, website etc....
You assign them anything to read and this printable will guide students to create a 3 paragraph response that shows their opinion and asks them to provide contextual support for their opinion, and create a 3 part plan that will continue or extend the 'good thing/idea' or fix the 'bad thing/idea'. This takes the student from the basic to the higher level response.
This is a great printable that will work for ANY source. Newspapers, Magazines novel, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Art it doesn't matter. This will force students to think and perform at a higher level in their written responses by making an opinion and providing contextual evidence in their three paragraph response to support their opinion.
I like to keep copies of this, cause and effect response sheets and read and respond sheets handy. When students are finished with work early in my Social Studies class they are required to grab a newspaper, read an article and complete one of the response sheets. My partner that teaches reading requires them to fill out a response sheet as proof they read out of a book of their choice for homework. It allows the student to pick any book they want to read for homework, but asks them to complete the same tasks.

Purchase includes the one sheet printable that guides the student into a 3 paragraph or more response to something they read. PDF format.
