Who was this resource created for?
I am now an 8th grade intensive services Special Educator. I teach ELA, Science, and Social Skills, to a small group of students with moderate to severe disabilities. I created this Read and Write Sight Word resource for students with intellectual disabilities, on a beginning reading level. I chose “go” for this word study mini-unit because it is an important word to know in order to communicate what you want in daily life. I found with repetition, fading picture support, and most importantly, daily practice, these students found success with reading and writing the sight word, go.
What does this resource include?
-Two versions of the book, “Things That Go”, there is one version with picture symbols, and there is a version where the students read and then draw their own illustrations.
-Trace, read, and write activity
-Circle the Sight words activity
-Color-by-Sight word activity
