Who was this resource created for?
I am currently a middle school intensive services Special Educator. I teach all four content areas; ELA, Science, Math, Social Studies, and Social Skills, to a small group of students with moderate to severe needs. I created this Read and Write Sight Word resource for students with intellectual disabilities, on the pre-reading level. I specifically picked the words see, car, yellow, and horse because these are important words to know in order to communicate what you see in daily life. I found with repetition, fading picture support, and most importantly, daily practice, these students found success with reading and writing sight words.
What does this resource include?
-Two versions of the book, “Things I see”, there is one version with picture symbols and another version where the students read and then draw their own illustrations.

-Color-by-Sight word activity
How do I use this resources?
This resource is meant to be used as sight word instruction and practice. It could be used as homework or for Extended Year Services. You can use this resource based on the needs of your students. There is a lesson guide included.
