Push your students to think at a higher level by understanding multiple mathematical strategies: counting on, make a 10, using a number line, etc. This packet gives students an opportunity to input their own numbers into problems (making them as challenging as they choose), pick their own strategy to solve, and then explain their thinking.
It is a great way to push your higher level math students to not only solve mathematical equations, story problems, and data filled graphs but also explain their thinking process.
The first page is a dictionary page filled with strategies to remind students of the different strategies they have learned or will learn to use in math this year. The last pages are open for students to write their own addition, subtraction and story problems with extra information.
