These checklists are a tool for your classroom volunteers (parents, student teachers) for you to use while conferencing with students during Read to Self time. I use these for my parent volunteers to use during our Daily 5 literacy time while I am doing guided reading with the students. The checklists are a simple tool for volunteers to use, and an easy way for teachers to keep track of what their students know and what they need to work on still.
There are five different checklists focusing on different literacy skills-one for every day of the week. There is also an overview/direction sheet for parents included. Topics addressed in the checklists include: concepts of print, fluency, punctuation, story elements, retelling, and making connections.
I hope you find this useful! Check out my blog, kindergartenkel.blogspot.com, for more Daily 5 ideas.
