Students can edit writing assignments using the readability tool using Flesch-Kincaid tool. This tool is only included in the Windows 7 version. This free file contains the directions for accessing the "Readability Level" tool.
Students can independently identify the writing level of their written work using the directions to access this vaulable free tool included in Microsoft 7. Once students have access to this tool, and "try it out," they will make changes to increase the writing level of their written assignment.
Over time, the use of this tool becomes automatic, and students are able to produce final products that are more stronger in sentence structure, syntax and semantics.
Many student use this tool to reduce the use of one-syllable words and replacing with two syllable, or more, words. It is wonderful to see students self-edit their work and having pride in the completed assignment that is submitted.
