This is a fun, reading-motivation game, that sees students reading (and repeat reading) without feeling bored.
The idea is for the students to read through their readers in a similar way as they would move through the spaces on a board game.
Each student has the same reader and the teacher displays this dice game on the IWB. A student comes to the board and taps on the die to ‘throw it’. They then carry out the instruction shown on the dice i.e. read the part of their reader as indicated by the die.
The students take turns and each student uses the point in the reader where they ended their last turn, as a point of departure for each new turn.
The first student to finish reading their reader (or read the furthest ) is the winner.
If used in a big class, divide the class into teams. A student representing a team comes to ‘throw’ the dice, then the whole team reads together.
