This outline will help students who struggle to organize their thoughts with reader responses! Included is an example of how to fill out the outline and then an excellent reader response written off of the outline.
A great mini-lesson idea would be to have students work backwards from the reader response and try to fill in where the information would go on the outline. It helps students see how the outline and final draft work together.
Suggestion: Have this copied on brightly colored paper so that students can use it as a reference for the whole year. You can copy it double-sided and have students keep it in the front of their binders.
