Product Description

This activity is inspired by Cris Tovani's "Categories of Questions" from her book, I Read It, But I Just Don't Get It. This activity can be used with any text. Included is a list of five different categories of questions (ponderable, clarifying, in the text, in my head, in another source) with examples of each.

This activity is written to be completed in groups while reading an assigned portion of the text, but can easily be adapted to individual, pair, or whole-class work. As students read the text, they must write two questions about the text that fall into each category. This activity is a nice change from the constant answering of questions that our students are used to. My students enjoy this unique way of close reading a text.

All documents are fully editable.
