This freebie has three of my favorite essential forms for conferring during Reading Workshop:
-Reading Conference Form - I use this to get a great snapshot of student reading, identify areas that need instruction on the spot, and set goals with the student. I couldn't confer without it!
-Data Form - This is where I keep all of my students' data. One central location means it's always at my fingertips, easy to use, and convenient for tracking data trends during the year.
-Running Record Form - This is my favorite form for taking a quick running record from whatever text the student is reading right then.
In my own classroom, I purchase a 2 inch binder at the beginning of the school year and create tabs for each student. (Tip: If you number the tabs, you can reuse your binder and tabs each year.) Then, I make copies of each of these forms and put a copy behind each tab. That way, I'm ready to grab it and work with a student from day one! I'll also make extra copies of each form and keep them in the back of the binder, so I can quickly get one if I need to.
I've also included FULL instructions on how to use each of the forms, so all you need to do is download, print, and go! Whether you're a first year teacher or a seasoned veteran, these forms are a lifesaver.
