This is a one page document small enough to fit into a composition book page of a Reader's Notebook. It is an alternative to doing reading logs. Instead of filling out a weekly reading log students are encouraged to fill out a note card or Post It and post it to a Anchor chart in the classroom showing how they are thinking deeply about what they are reading. It is not limited to fiction and can be used for both fiction and non-fiction.
The document has four boxes that show students an example post, describe the weekly assignment with a blank space for which day of the week it should be due, a reading strategy, and sentence starters for deep thinking about their reading.
In my classroom I have created an Anchor chart that says Weekly Reading Post: What would your character say on FACEBOOK? or What would you say about your reading on FACEBOOK. This helps students connect their posts to media that many of them use in their daily lives, or know of people who do. It's meant to be a fun alternative to a reading log, while allowing you to assess where they are in their reading thinking.
Poster is not included. You can view the example poster at https://pinterest.com/pin/466755948849930336/
