In my classroom we were very INTO notebooking for all subject areas. I especially spent time developing and refining the Reader’s Notebook. I found it very helpful for the kids to number the pages in their notebook, so they could easily turn to a specific section or heading.
The Reader’s Notebook helped children to reflect in different ways depending on our purpose for the day. Some days they would write their thoughts and feelings; while on other days they would write using a strategy or a letter.
Of course the goal was for children to THINK about their READING and share their thinking with others.
