DIGITAL READER'S NOTEBOOK: This digital notebook is designed to be used with Google Drive or Google Classroom and is a perfect tool to engage students in critical thinking about text. It is one that can take the students beyond chapter questions and allow them to explore their own questions, thoughts and theories about the texts they read. It requires them to be more independent as they explore the author's ideas and purpose in writing.
This reader's notebook could be use with any text--even your class novels--and includes pages that focus on:
--the students' reading choices
--development of character and theme
--use of language
--author purpose and technique
--mentor sentences in the novel
--questions that both the author and reader ask
--questions that the reader will pose in a small group discussion
--pages for novel-doodles
Students will not only identify the elements of the novel and the language used, but analyze why the author makes the choices s/he does.
In the zip file, you will find:
--Powerpoint files you can use on Google Classroom, or share with your students to upload on Google drive
--instructions for the teacher
--an editable rubric
