Thinking Within the Text
Thinking Beyond and About the Text
These can be given to your students while you are teaching the specific skill or the week following (to ensure mastery of the skill before they apply it to their own reading).
The first and last section (Thinking Within and Conventions) are considered Must Dos. These are the ones they must complete to show a basic understanding of the text and to practice appropriate conventions.
The Thinking Beyond and About Section contains 3-5 different prompts (again specifically aligned to the standard). The different prompts allow for differentiation for your struggling readers and your advanced readers.
