Why scripts for different amounts of readers?
⬟ THE REASONS ARE TWO FOLD:
⬟ As a classroom teacher, I found myself in a conundrum using the reader’s theater that came with our basal reader. My students LOVED reader’s theater, but I was hesitant to spend time on it. Often times, students would have to assume multiple roles when we didn’t have the right numbers for each play, or students were stuck with a really small role just to hash out roles for each student. By having different plays with different amounts of roles, this should nearly eliminate your need to double roles for students, PLUS all roles are equal in each play. WIN-WIN!

⬟ The slight increase in difficulty in each play allows you to feel confident to give roles to readers that they will feel comfortable reading. You don’t have to give a small role to a struggling reader. In fact, struggling readers get a little more practice because they are the only two in the play!
