Reading And Science Integration: "Ladybug And Little Rose"
Life Cycles, Photosynthesis, Metamorphosis
Scripts with Content for Intermediate Readers
This Reader’s Theater Package is a great resource to use in your classroom in many ways: partner’s activities, centers, or teacher table.
Reader’s Theater is one of the best tools in the classroom to have students gain fluency, accuracy and comprehension in reading. It also reinforces listening skills, and teamwork.
This package will include a list of Common Core Standards covered in reading, and listening, as well as Science. I purposely insert science vocabulary in my scripts, and I include lots of context clues so that students can infer the meaning of the new words. By the time the science lesson starts, the students have already acquired background knowledge.
This script is about Little Rose and Ladybug having a chat on a sunny summer day. It makes reference to their basic needs and their life cycles. It also explains the process of photosynthesis and metamorphosis. The parts of a plant and their functions are also explained. At the end, Little Rose and Ladybug decided that they could help each other out to survive. It is a fun little script, in which the students will learn a lot about plants and insects, while getting their reading fluency practice!
The story will have science content and it will make reference to:
Ladybug's Life Cycle
Plant's Life Cycle
Plants' Parts And Their Functions
