Readers' Theater is one of the BEST teaching tools I have in my my box. These scripts allow my students to experience history and have a great time while they do it! In every script I write there is a glossary of words students may not know, discussion questions and writing prompts to extend the learning beyond the performance. Additionally, you will receive my tips and hints to make Reader's Theater a success in your classroom. These engaging scripts are always rated as one of my students' favorite things we do in class.
This particular script picks up right after the American Revolution has ended, and though focused on South Carolina, it would work for other states as well. In the script students are shown the various points of views and emotions experienced by both Patriots and Loyalists following the American victory, and get to enjoy a good laugh while they do it. If you struggle to engage your students in historical events, Readers' Theater scripts may be your solution!
