Readers Theater is important when teaching students that not all text looks the same. Readers Theater also teaches students how to be creative when reading and follow different types of instructions in the text.
As I begin my journey to creating multiple Reading Theater Units, I wanted to provide you with the fun back to school freebie! This script will work for 3rd-5th grades and I have provided some tips for differentiating if the level doesn't meet the needs of some of your students!
The play has 7 roles (parts) and you can divide your students up into multiple groups so they can see the variation each group puts on the same play!
I do readers theater with my students and it is so helpful in learning their personalities and teaching concepts of drama and how it looks as a text.
I have also provided open-ended comprehension questions about the play, a visualization exercise and a writing exercise!
This would be perfect for the first week of school! :)
I hope you enjoy!
