This is a Reader’s Theatre Script based on the book, A BAD CASE OF STRIPES, written by David Shannon. It is a full class production telling the whole story but it is conveniently broken down into four (3-4 page) scenes that have 6 characters in each. There is a ton of flexibility here in casting as well as room for adding/deleting characters based on your classroom needs.
This is the story of Camilla, who is desperate to please others and in her quest, ignores her own inner likes. Unfortunately, she comes down with a terrible case of “stripes” and has to move through a journey of pleasing others only to return to the most important and healing truth—that pleasing herself is most valuable! It is up to her to courageously BE HERSELF! This story teaches the importance of having an inner relationship with the self first which is crucial to growth and, of course, in avoiding a case of stripes.
Enjoy being YOUR CREATIVE SELF-loud and proud- as you bring this story to life with Reader’s Theatre!
