Product Description
This piece is a full class script (up to 24 parts!) for 3rd-5th grade based on the amazing book, MILTON'S SECRET, by Eckhart Tolle and Robert S Friedman. This book will soon be turned into a movie featuring Henry Fonda so check it out in your classroom now!
It deals with the topic of bullying and how that experience can sometimes overwhelm your every thought. It is a brilliant book that introduces Eckhart's ideas from his popular book 'The Power of Now' in a way that children can understand.
I helped my daughter's third grade class perform this and the kids just dove right into this profound message. They performed it as a ‘theatre in the round’ using the four scene groups as four separate ‘sets’ placed in four locations around the room. They did shows for their kindergarten buddies, other third grade classrooms, and the parents!
The character of Milton can walk into each scene as needed and the few characters that move into the dream may do so as well. This suggested movement is noted in the script but feel free to get creative and find new ways to perform as well!!
The topic of bullying is always an important theme to look at and it is my hope that with Eckhart Tolle’s brilliant offering of ‘staying in the NOW’ combined with the experience of being part of a group to tell this story in play form--that all kids claim their own lights and take care of each other-always.
