Adapted from Grimm's folktale of the same name, this script is a great way to begin exploration of characteristics of greed, pride, humility, - to name a few. Additional pages are included to help you guide your students through activities to find the voice for their character and to develop ways to strengthen expressive reading. Scripted for 6 voices, this script can be used as part of a folktale literature study or as a performance piece.
Readers Theatre is a great way for students to explore character through dialogue, and to come to understand the ways in which subtle changes in voice (tempo, volume, pitch), body language and facial expression can enhance or detract from the intended meaning of words spoken.
