The Gingerbread Man is a wonderful cumulative folktale for reader's theatre. This play is a traditional retelling of The Gingerbread Man. A little old Woman, a little old man, a pig, a cow, and a horse all chase after the gingerbread man. But it is the sly fox offering the gingerbread man a ride across the river who finally gets to make him a meal.
The Gingerbread Man is a cumulative tale (full of repetition), which makes it ideal for fluency building. Dramatic plays encourage students to read orally with expression and clear intonation.
This script for The Gingerbread Man is 4 pages in length. A full page image of each character is included to make optional props (character bibs) if desired.
