This is a comprehensive Reader's Workshop unit, which could be easily adapted to fit any Language Arts program. It has been tested in my own classroom with amazing success and it will sure to be successful in your classroom! This unit is organized and sequential and includes lessons, posters, teacher instructions, and student worksheets. There are reading samples and suggestions for read alouds as well. Concepts covered are: teaching kids how to respond to their reading, thinking about reading strategies, point of view, making inferences, character traits, theme, and writing from a character's point of view. It makes teaching these concepts easy and foolproof. You could use this unit for a month, but the lessons included could easily be stretched out throughout the year and revisited many times. It culminates in getting kids to work on an independent reading plan, where students move through the activities at their own pace and on their own reading level. Whether you are a seasoned teacher or just starting out, you will find that this unit prepares your students in the Common Core Language Arts standards and helps them to become active and competent readers. Email me with any questions and I will be more than happy to give you any additional information you need: email@example.com.
